1. Letter From The Wanted Man

Howdee All,

Today is September 29th, and as I write this letter, I breathe a sigh of relief. The CD Release party is over, and was a success, the CD will be shipping next week to those who have ordered it, and booking the fall concert schedule is about to get into full swing.

On September 7th The Wanted Man Online Store went online and we began selling Cassettes, CDs, and Logo Shirts online. To check it out just go to the homepage and click on the Merchandise link. All proceeds will first go toward paying for "First Thing I Pray For," and then will go toward expanding our ministry even further. We have an exclusive arrangement with Firecats to custom embroider all our shirts to order.

A special word of thanks to all of you who attended the release party. It was quite a success, and I was so very happy to share with you the songs from this project. Also a special word of thanks to all of you who pre-ordered CDs and cassettes of "First Thing I Pray For".

Thanks for spreading the word about http://www.thewantedman.com, and this newsletter, and know that we appreciate your cards, letters, emails, and prayers as we continue in this growing ministry.

We pray that God will bless you, and many others, through our ministry efforts.

2. Featured Story

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

3. Featured Bible Study

The Bible plainly tells us that there are many gifts given by God to His children and that we can have unity in diversity. 1 Corinthians 11:4-6 - 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
Another important thing to remember is 1 Cor 11:3 ". . . no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit."
One of the great gifts (opportunities) He gives us is the right to pray to Him (through the Holy Spirit). Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." This gift is freely given to all who have experienced the regeneration (those who can genuinely call Jesus "Lord"). Believers should courageously approach God in prayer because His is a throne of grace, and our High Priest (Jesus) sits at His right hand interceding for us.

4. Featured Interview

This months interview is with a fellow recording artist. Gene Callahan, a member of the Country Gospel Music Guild, and I met when he did a concert at First Baptist Church of Berrien Springs, Michigan last year. I had the honor of running sound and recording that event (with Gene's permission, of course) so that some of our elderly and shut in members could be blessed by his ministry.

I was truly touched by his music, and by the humility that he maintained while he was performing. It is a rare combination to have someone who is both thoroughly entertaining and humble. It seems that big ego's usually come with skillful stage presence.

Gene also did an excellent job when he filled in at the last minute and opened for me at my CD release concert when the act that was scheduled had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict.

Gene is a two time CGMG Horizon Award nominee, and has had his music chart on various formats in the US and in Europe.

It is an honor this month to welcome Gene to The Wanted Man, and to have him grant us this time to chat with him.

And now, the interview:

The Wanted Man: In way of introduction, please tell our readers a little about yourself.

Gene Calahan: I live in Sawyer, Michigan with my wife Patty and daughter Tricia. Patty doesn't say much when asked to talk in front of people, and she doesn't sing, but she has more faith than anyone I think I've ever met. She is really an inspiration. Tricia is 12 years old and she sings a couple songs with me. We have five grown children (my daughter Melissa also with us when she can) and seven grandchildren.

I've been writing gospel music for about 20 years. There are times when God gives us a lot, and times that are dry. In other words, I write a lot in a short period of time, and then nothing for years.

I love the Lord with all my heart and want to do His will.

TWM: How did you come to know Christ as your Lord and Savior?

GC: I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I felt His Spirit dealing with my heart and He called me. I repented and ask for forgiveness and by the blood He shed I was saved. I know He is always with us through good and bad times. We just need to trust and obey the Lord.

TWM: What started you into the area of music ministry?

GC: I have always loved music. I started singing when I was too young to remember and started playing guitar when I was about 14. Music has always been a big part of my life. I don't preach, so it's the way I find that I can tell people about Jesus.

TWM: What kind of Christian work have you been involved with before starting your current minisrty?

GC: I played guitar and sang in church. I have also taught the teen class in Sunday School.

TWM: Are you using any outreach methods to impact lives in your ministry today?

GC: I have not done as much as I need to do to promote my ministry, I need a lot of prayer in that area. I also need a lot of help, because although I've been in music for years, being in ministry is brand new to us and we have a lot to learn. I'm not getting any younger so we need a lot of prayer that doors will be opened.

TWM: I must congratulate you. I understand that you have been nominated for your second CGMG Horizon Award. Can you give our readers some details about this?

GC: The CGMG is the Country Gospel Music Guild, and the Horizon Award is the award for newcomers.

TWM: I know that you perform original material that you write. Just to give our readers a little look into the mind of a songwriter, could you give us a description of the inspiration or circumstances that prompts you to write?

GC: God has given me songs of from preachers, sermons, magazine articles, Bible Scriptures, conversations, and thoughts from I don't know where. Well, I do know where, they're from God, but I don't always know why. When God gives a song, it's really fast and easy. I've written complete songs in 20 minutes, but if it's something I just want to write, I may work on it for months.

TWM: If the Lord tarries, what do you see in store for your future ministry efforts?

GC: What I pray I'll see is hearts touched and souls saved. Not only through my ministry, but also through others doing songs God gave me.

TWM: What words of advice or encouragement would you offer to anyone interested in music ministry, but unsure of themselves and their abilities?

GC: Be prepared to work, be disappointed, and be frustrated. But know that it will be worth it all the first time, and every time, you look out at the people and see the joy God gives when they really listen to the message in one of your songs. The joy and blessings you receive is in knowing others have been blessed, and that makes everything worth while.

TWM: Are there any other comments that you would like to make?

GC: I love the Lord, and pray that he will open doors. We're planning a new project this year and once again 10 of the songs will be original. Please let everyone know who we are and that we need prayers, and I pray that God will bless every one.

Thanks.

TWM: And thank you Gene for granting us this interview. I pray that God will continue to bless your ministry, and that our friendship will continue to grow as we serve Him in our ministries.

Gene can be reached for bookings at 269-426-3539, and by email at spar140@cs.com. His current project is the self titled "Gene Callahan" and can be purchased directly from Gene.

Please pray for Gene and his ministry the God may continue to work His glorious will through Gene's music.

5. God's Plan of Salvation

Did you know God has a plan for you?
The plan He has is called Salvation, and it is a free gift from the God of Creation to YOU through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ!

Why You Need Salvation!
Romans 3:23 tells us that; ". . .all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

And 1John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

Do you believe in heaven and hell?
Matthew 25:31-34 and Matthew 25:41

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, `Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:' Then He will also say to those on the left hand, `Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:'"

Did you know there's only one way to heaven?
John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"

1Tim 2:5 "For [there] [is] one God and one Mediator between God and men, [the] Man Christ Jesus."

So, how can I be sure I will go to heaven?
John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

If you feel God is speaking to your heart right now, please pray this prayer

"Jesus, I believe You died on the Cross for me and that God raised You from the dead. I believe You took upon Yourself the punishment for my sins and my guilt. I know that You are the only Way to Heaven, and now I ask You to forgive me of every sin and come into my heart.

Jesus, I now make you LORD of my life...
I will love You, serve You, and obey You all the days of my life.
Thank You Jesus, for dying for me and giving me a new life in You.

AMEN"

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer for salvation in faith, believing that Jesus is the Living Son of GOD, the Bible promises that you now are a Child of God, and a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
Please locate a local church and speak to a Pastor. Also, please email The Wanted Man at testimony@thewantedman.com and tell me of your salvation experience. I want to rejoice with you and pray for you as you begin your walk with Christ.

6. Conclusion

Well another month (plus) has passed. It has been a very busy month for all; but it has been an exciting month. The release party for the Wanted Man's new CD was an absolutely great time. Everyone who attended was truly touched by the music and the message of the songs.

If you haven't visited the Wanted Man website recently, I strongly urge to take some time and go through the many new Bible studies, stories and messages on our family ministry page.

I hope everything is going well for all. May God bless you in all of your endeavors.

In Christ's Name
Debbie Dixon
