1. Letter From The Wanted Man

Howdee All,

Well, as I write this, I am reflecting on the Independence Day celebration I attended yesterday. A Parade in the afternoon, and a baseball game last night followed by fireworks. Everywhere I looked, I saw signs that said "God Bless America," and I couldn't help but think to myself, "What do you think He's been doing all this time?" Even in the face of people who have removed the Bible, prayer, and now, potentially, even the pledge to the flag of our country because of the words "One nation under God," He has continued to bless our country in spite of ourselves.

He continues to bless this country without merit. That is the truest definition of grace, as the song goes, "America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea"

I am passionate about this issue, but all the words I could write can (and ironically enough, will) be summed up here in this one statement, "Thank You God for blessing our country... and God, may You, through Your wonderful Grace, continue to bless us."

It doesn't seem possible, but another month has again come and gone, and what a month it has been. On the day the newsletter was sent last month Brenda informed me that we are now expecting our second child, due in January. What a pick me up that was. I shared with you last month that my grandmother was dying of cancer. Well, Mammaw is now with the Lord, and her passing was an answer to prayer for her. She didn't linger in pain.

Thanks to each of you who sent me emails expressing your concern, and for your prayers.

I had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the South Bend Silverhawks baseball game against the Dayton Dragons at Coveleski Stadium on June 24th in front of 4,741 spectators. It was a great experience, and I met a great bunch of boys that are cub scouts in Stevensville, MI, as they presented colors during the anthem. There is a picture at http://www.thewantedman.com/pictures.htm.

Other than that, I have not been back on the road this month. With the funeral and preparations for the upcoming recording project, I have been stretched pretty thin. We are going into the studio from July 15 through July 19. Mark Goodman, the producer, is very excited about the project and the new material.

A friend has extended to us a loan for this project, which buys us some time in paying for it, but that loan will have to be repaid. I ask that you pray for us that we will be able to pull the finances together to do this.

All the proceeds from my concerts this year are going toward this project. If you would like for me to do a concert in your area, you or your church can contact my Booking Coordinator, Carlotta Shelton, at bookings@thewantedman.com. Also, cassette and CD sales of "The Dawn Will Come" are going to finance the next project, so if you would like copies of that project you can email me at derek@thewantedman.com. Cassettes are $8 and CD's are $12, plus $2 for shipping and packaging.

As always, thanks for spreading the word about http://www.thewantedman.com, and this newsletter; and thanks so much for your cards, letters, emails, and prayers as we follow the leading that God has placed on us with this ministry. We pray that God will bless you, and many others, through our ministry efforts.

3. Featured Story

This month instead of a story, we are featuring the lyrics of one of Derek's songs that he has written. This new song will be on the new album and is entitled "Independence Day."

Independence Day
Words and Music: Derek L. Cromwell
© Copyright 2002 by Derek L. Cromwell

Verse 1:
It was the founding of a country we all know.
He was a shoemaker from Boston,
But he knew he had to go and pay the price
Liberty required a sacrifice.

How much fear he felt, it’s really hard to know.
Because he knew when he was finished,
He’d be carried home and laid to rest.
But when he gave his life, he gave his best.

Chorus:
It was his Independence Day,
The day that Freedom rang around the World,
The banner of Sweet Liberty unfurled!
It was his Independence Day.

Verse 2:
Conviction led him to a place that we all know.
A simple farmer from Kentucky,
But he knew the life he’d lived had had a price.
Salvation now required a sacrifice.

Why he’d waited for so long, it’s hard to know,
But now he knew when his life was over
He’d be going home where he would rest,
And when he gave his life to Christ he gave his best!

Chorus:
It was his Independence Day,
The day that Freedom rang around the World,
The banner of Sweet Liberty unfurled!
It was his Independence Day.

Interlude:
Well, the mind cannot conceive it,
And some men will not believe it,
Salvation has a price that already has been paid.

The world cannot defeat it,
And the enemy cannot beat it,
The war as won the day the sacrifice was made...

Verse 3:
They made Him walk a path up a hill that we all know.
He was a carpenter from Galilee,
But He knew the life He’d lived could pay the price.
The debt of sin required His sacrifice.

How much pain he felt, it’s really hard to know.
But when He cried out, "It is finished,"
He prepared a home where we could rest
And through His resurrection all mankind was blessed!

Chorus:
It was our Independence Day,
The day that Freedom rang around the World,
The banner of Sweet Liberty unfurled!

It was our Independence Day,
Angelic choirs of heaven now proclaim,
Salvation of the world through Jesus’ name

It was our Independence Day,
The day that Freedom rang around the World,
The banner of Sweet Liberty unfurled!

It was our Independence Day...

It was our Independence Day...

It was our Independence Day.

5. Featured Interview

This month I am honored to share with you an interview of Kimberly Cromwell. She is my sister-in-law, and the newest member of the staff of The Wanted Man.

She has just written a book entitled "A Woman's Journey to Abundance" that is soon to be released through Xulon Press. I had the privilege of reading several early drafts of this book as she was writing (and re-writing) it, and I highly recommend it to the ladies in our audience.

Here is the interview.

The Wanted Man: Hello Kimberly, and welcome to The Wanted Man. In way of introduction, please tell our readers a little about yourself.

Kimberly Cromwell: I'm a homeschooling mother of five young children: Paul 9, Andrew 8, Sarah 6, Noah 3, and Simon 1. My husband Brian is a computer systems architect. In November, 2000, we moved from the Des Moines, IA area to rural Wisconsin. This has given us more time together as a family, and it has allowed me more time to write.

TWM: Would you mind sharing how you came to know Christ as your Lord and Savior?

KC: I came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior in the summer of 1998, while I was pregnant with our fourth child. I was confined to bedrest for some time because I have a congenital heart condition and certain stages of pregnancy exacerbate my symptoms. A dear girlfriend and neighbor, a mother of eight children (now nine), and a woman of deep faith, led me to the Lord. Knowing that I had been confined to bedrest for several long weeks, she brought over the "Left Behind" series. I thought the series was intriguing, but I dismissed much of it because they were fiction-based. However, I noticed that several Bible verses were woven throughout the text of the book, and I began to reference these verses. I knew then that although the books were fictional, they were based on the fulfillment of prophecy. Before, heaven and hell hadn't been very real to me, and God's plan seemed limited to the aftermath of my death. Through researching Old Testament prophecy and Jesus' fulfillment of those prophecies and further researching futuristic prophecies, I realized that God's plan was not only enormous, but also awesome. God was, indeed, an awesome God, worthy of awe, worthy of adoration, worthy of praise. And I received the salvation made available through His Son, Jesus Christ.

TWM: As I mentioned in the introduction, you have recently finished "A Woman's Journey to Abundance." What prompted you into writing this book?

KC: "A Woman's Journey to Abundance" had been on my heart since 1998, the year I was saved. As a new believer, I wanted a book that addressed women's issues, particularly those related to marriage and motherhood. I wanted practical, no-nonsense advice to women who were balancing priorities and serving the Lord. Although there were many wonderful books on the Christian market, I never found one that fit my needs perfectly. How do you lead a life that is pleasing to the Lord while spinning many different plates? What is God's call on my life in my marriage? What is God's call on my life in motherhood? As a homemaker, what does it truly mean to "make a home"?

The first years of my spiritual walk with the Lord became an ongoing learning process in these areas, and finally, in January, I decided to write the book, sharing what I have learned and what I have found to be practical and helpful in my life as a Christian woman, wife, and mother.

TWM: Do you find that it's difficult for young women to live a Godly lifestyle in today's world?

KC: I do believe that today's world makes it very difficult for young women to lead Godly lives. We are surrounded by evil, and through the eyes of the unsaved, these means of evil (partying, promiscuity, drugs, alcohol) seem appealing and fulfilling. But they are ultimately destructive. It begets a vicious cycle. Promiscuity, for example, destroys the lives of so many young women. Through promiscuity, they lose their innocence, their purity, and they are further separated from God's perfect plan for intimacy within marriage. Many young women wake up to the startling consequences of STD's and unwanted pregnancies, many of which are tragically terminated: further pain and loss from which they are desperate to escape.
Lasting joy comes only from knowing, loving, and abiding in Jesus Christ and walking in fulfillment of His great plan for our lives.

TWM: Are you planning any more books in the future?

KC: Yes, I am planning to write more books. In fact, my next book is underway now. In it, I am addressing the impact of rape on young girls' lives, using my story as well as the stories of Dinah from Genesis and Tamar from II Samuel. Rape is a violation that leaves young women spiritually and emotionally destitute, and depending on the response from parents (mothers especially), can be very destructive to the family dynamic. Imagine, for example, a young woman informing her mother that her father has raped her over a span of years. Imagine, then, the mother's misplaced loyalty to her husband rather than her daughter, or even the mother blaming her daughter as though she had brought this on herself.
I'm hearing many of these stories as a result of my sharing my own story in "A Woman's Journey to Abundance". My purpose in this next book is to lead women to forgiveness and healing and ultimately, restoration of those family relationships.

TWM: As I announced in last month's newsletter, I am pleased to have you joining my staff as Director of the Family Ministry Unit. What sort of ministry projects can our readers expect to see during the next year?

KC: Well, I am most pleased to be joining your staff; it is truly an honor for me. I would like to address the needs of families by writing about those issues relevant to marriage, parenthood, and service to the Lord as a family. Many Christian families are choosing to homeschool their children, for example, that they may acquire a Godly education, one that acknowledges God as Creator and as the Source of sustain-ment and provision. I would like to offer homeschool suggestions, ideas, advice, encouragement, and my prayers and fellowship.

TWM: What results do you hope to see from this ministry?

KC: I hope to see families that are encouraged both to seek and fulfill God's will for their lives. I hope to see families that are strengthened by the Word of God and bound by prayer. I hope to see families that are exemplifying and sharing the love of Christ and drawing others to Him through them.

TWM: If the Lord tarries, what do you see in store for future ministry efforts?

KC: There are many ideas that come to mind: book reviews, Christian book clubs, online Biblical counseling, a homeschool organization, a mother's online group...there is no end to the possibilities!

TWM: Kimberly, what words of advice or encouragement would you offer to young women who are interested in living as a daughter of The King, but unsure of the impact they could make for the Kingdom work?

KC: God has a unique plan for each of His daughters, and so long as we are living in accordance with His will, our efforts for Him are always fruitful: "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11).

TWM: Are there any other comments that you would like to make?

KC: I am thrilled to be a part of your ministry, Derek. I look forward to working with you in sowing the seeds that God calls us to. God bless you and your readers.

TWM: Kimberly's book will be available from Amazon.com, xulonpress.com, and Christian Book Distributors on July 19th, 2002. We will also try to have copies at personal appearances and concert events starting in August.

Thank you Kimberly, for all your hard work, and for allowing me to do this interview.

6. God's Plan of Salvation

Did you know God has a plan for you?
The plan He has is called Salvation, and it is a free gift from the God of Creation to YOU through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ!

Why You Need Salvation!
Romans 3:23 tells us that; ". . .all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

And 1John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

Do you believe in heaven and hell?
Matthew 25:31-34 and Matthew 25:41

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, `Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:' Then He will also say to those on the left hand, `Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:'"

Did you know there's only one way to heaven?
John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"

1Tim 2:5 "For [there] [is] one God and one Mediator between God and men, [the] Man Christ Jesus."

So, how can I be sure I will go to heaven?
John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

If you feel God is speaking to your heart right now, please pray this prayer

"Jesus, I believe You died on the Cross for me and that God raised You from the dead. I believe You took upon Yourself the punishment for my sins and my guilt. I know that You are the only Way to Heaven, and now I ask You to forgive me of every sin and come into my heart.

Jesus, I now make you LORD of my life...
I will love You, serve You, and obey You all the days of my life.
Thank You Jesus, for dying for me and giving me a new life in You.

AMEN"

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer for salvation in faith, believing that Jesus is the Living Son of GOD, the Bible promises that you now are a Child of God, and a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
Please locate a local church and speak to a Pastor. Also, please email The Wanted Man at testimony@thewantedman.com and tell me of your salvation experience. I want to rejoice with you and pray for you as you begin your walk with Christ.

7. Conclusion

This past month has been a sad but joyous month for Derek with the loss of his grandmother as she went home to be with the Lord. But there is much excitement coming this month as he puts together his next album to be released soon. I know that Derek will be very grateful for all of your prayers and support as he takes on this endeavor God has placed before him.

We are still experiencing some technical difficulties with The Wanted Man website especially with the story and bible study sections. We are looking into new options to help alleviate these problems and hope to be fully operational once again. However, even through these difficulties we have been able to post some new bible studies for your spiritual growth. Along with the new bible studies there are some new pictures under the "Concert Pictures" heading of The Wanted Man singing the National Anthem and some time of rest and relaxation at a local amusement park.

We pray that you have been blessed by this newsletter and hope that you will share the work of God with your friends and family. If you have any suggestions for us or anything that you would like to share with us that may be used in future newsletters, please contact me at editor@thewantedman.com.
